In the 1980s, two young Adelaide pastors were swapping devotional thoughts on an international flight, and when both shared from the same line of the Bible, they knew God was leading them in the venture of starting up a Bible College.
Right from the beginning, their heart was to see men and women trained and equipped for practical ministry with strong biblical convictions, and Adelaide College of Ministries was born - an acronym that then doubled for "Academic excellence, Character development, and Ministry practice."
Graduates from the late 80s and early 90s still tell stories of volleyball battles among staff and students amidst lectures and assignments. Even then, a culture was forming where faculty and students rubbed shoulders, and rubbed off on one another. The old church premises in Prospect served as an excellent venue in the early days, but it would soon prove too small.
Our mission...
to develop godly servants who will contribute to the health and growth of the church in Australasia and the world.
After some years in cramped quarters, ACM moved to its current campus in Klemzig in 1994. Under the leadership of then Principal, Dr. Deane Woods, the board, faculty, and team of committed volunteers transformed a state primary school into an environment that has enabled many more students to train in context of this learning community. Graduates from throughout Australia and New Zealand, as well as India, Singapore, Korea, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, the US and the Philippines, now serve in God's mission throughout the world in a variety of professional and lay capacities.
Since Dr. Tom Golding took on the responsibility as Principal in 2004, he and his wife Diane have continued to cultivate the community you will now find at ACM.
Here, you will find a strong desire to know God's Word and to integrate that knowledge into practice.
The faculty and student body of today show a strong commitment to one another, and a strong conviction to explore the depths of the Bible together. The games of choice are now table tennis and basketball but the community DNA is still the same!
You are invited to step into this community and become a part of this story. We're passionate about embracing and expressing biblical conviction in life and ministry, and passionate about seeing others do the same.
As we pursue this passion, we're seeing God develop servants who are contributing to the health and growth of the church in Australasia and beyond.
